  1. Unit Summary Through the novel “Bootleg” by Alex Shearer we will explore emotions across English, HSIE and PDHPE KLA’s. The political party known as the Good For You Party have risen to power and ban CHOCOLATE from this country. How are emotions at play in this novel and how do they relate to Government, political parties, relationships and laws.

  2. Curriculum Framing Questions’s Essential Question:- What emotions motivate us to act and respond? Unit Questions:- How does the political party of a nation affect the way we are governed? What are relationships based upon? What motivates people in their political allegiance? How does prohibition relate to the title of the book? Why do people conform or rebel? Content Questions:- What is democracy? What is political apathy as part of the voting process? What is compulsory universal suffrage? What is prohibition? What motivates ‘bootleggers’? What is a positive relationship as opposed to a negative relationship? How do relationships grow and change? How do people choose a political party? What are the elements in an effective political campaign?
