Summary of the Housing Unit Address Review • Received housing unit (HU) address records from Geography Division (GEO) from the Enumeration Universe (EU) extract of the Master Address File (MAF) • Compared the 36 million FSCPE-supplied HU addresses to the EU addresses in the same counties
Summary of theHousing Unit Address Review (continued) • Two weeks of review by FSCPE analysts from 32 states • Used GIS technology to identify clusters of 30 or more HU addresses (city-style only) that appeared to be missing in the MAF
Housing Unit Address Review Findings • Identified 88,501 missing HU addresses and they were sent to GEO for further processing • GEO sent 98% of these addresses to Field Division (FLD) for inclusion in the Vacant/Delete field operation
Group Quarters Review • Review will occur August 9-13, 2010 • Forty-three FSCPE Agencies are participating • Purpose of the Group Quarters (GQ) review is to identify missing or misallocated GQs from the 2010 Census results • FSCPE-supplied GQs addresses will be compared to GQ records from the 2010 Census
Group Quarters Review Tool • FSCPE analysts can send us GQ lists in advance (optional) • GQ Review tool will allow FSCPE analysts to compare their 2010 GQ records to 2010 Census records and to Census 2000 • The review tool will present GQ records in a table format by state and county and GQ type
Review Tool Presentations • GQ details will be presented in tables the reviewer can sort and filter • GQs by County • Lists all GQs or a subset by type • GQs by Type • Lists all GQs by type for the state, or subset of counties
What’s Needed for a Missing Group Quarters If a GQ is missing from the counts, we’ll need to establish: • GQ name • GQ 3-digit type code • GQ full address • GQ population as of April 1, 2010 • Geocodes
Researching Group Quarters Problems • Confirm the GQ and establish its population using administrative sources • Call GQ if necessary • Use websites, maps, and imagery • Consult with FLD in HQ & Regional Offices
Group Quarters Corrections • GQ corrections are submitted to the Census Bureau’s Processing Division for inclusion in the Census Unedited File • GQ cases that are not resolved in Count Review may be sent to the Count Question Resolution Program
Traditional Count Review • POP also will perform its traditional review of population, housing, and GQ counts • Looking for large and systematic errors that could be due to processing • Review successive files – ending in February 2011
