DETAILS • Further oral activities are based on texts and topics from Parts 1 and 2 of the syllabus. The activity should be rooted in a primary source • The marks from the FOA performance count for 15% of the final grade.
PURPOSE! • The further oral activities are intended to address the relationship between language, meaning and context. • The examination of a particular interpretation of a text or event will demonstrate how language has created meaning for society!
How do you get your mark? • show knowledge and understanding of meaning created in the text(s) and the subject chosen? • show understanding of the way language is used to create meaning? • an appreciation of how language and style is used to particular effect in the text? • the oral activity is effectively organized; the structure is coherent and effective. • the language is mostly clear and appropriate, with an adequate degree of accuracy in grammar and sentence construction; the register and style are mostly appropriate to the oral activity.
