Standards Status • HLA Rules, Interface Specification, and Object Model Template (IEEE 1516, 1516.1, 1516.2) • Third round of comments completed • Balloting delayed until March or April 2007 due to resolving technically challenging comments • Ballot group established • IEEE 1516.3, FEDEP, revision will begin this year • PAR in preparation and PDG kickoff at Spring SIW at the end of March • PAR for IEEE P1516.4, “Verification, Validation, and Accreditation Overlay to the Federation Development and Execution Process Working Group” submitted • Document has passed IEEE mandatory review • Preparing to form ballot group • DIS PDG completed draft 10 in preparation for balloting 1278.1 • Some remaining changes and several additional drafts scheduled between now and Spring SIW • Decision will be made at Spring SIW whether to close this revision and begin IEEE balloting process • DIS PDG is preparing PARs for revisions to DIS 1278.2, “IEEE Standard for Distributed Interactive Simulation - Communication Services and Profiles” and 1278.3, “IEEE Recommended Practice for Distributed Interactive Simulation - Exercise Management and Feedback,”
Organizational Resolution • SISO preparing updated P&P for submission to AudCom • Minor changes with the same mapping required by the AudCom previously • SA BoG Policy on business model for software standards • Eagerly awaiting progress on application of Creative Commons licenses to software standards • In the interim, SISO SAC and IEEE counsel have come to a satisfactory solution for language to be included in SISO-developed standards with respect to: • APIs • XML schema • User documentation
