YESENIAGARCIA Welcome to my world !
ABOUT ME. • I’m 18 years old. • I was born in Lindsay. • I am the youngest out of 5. • I am an outgoing and determined young lady. • On my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going for walks, just simply being outside. • Family Comes First. <3 • I want to attend Fresno State and become an accountant.
My Journals • They seemed hard at first. • I began to enjoy them. • We are able to express ourselves in ways we normally don’t do. • My Journal Highlight: • Journal #5: First Semester…Check! • I had already gotten accepted to Fresno State. • It hit me! Things were getting real. • First Semester was over, and we were half-ways to graduation. • I was on pace.
My Path To Success… • MY PARENTS. • They are my motivation. • They have always been there for me. • I wouldn’t be anywhere without them.
The Story. • My parents came to the U.S illegally to seek better opportunities for my sisters and their future. • They quickly enrolled my sisters in school to ensure that they received an education. • My sisters, not knowing much English, decided that school was too hard and gave up. • I am here now, to show my parents of what I am capable of, to make them proud, and to show them that I will succeed and reach for my goals even with all the struggles.
Visual Rep. “The Tortoise and the Hare” A hare brags about how fast he is and challenges anyone to a race. The tortoise accepts and the hare laughs at the fact that he has to race a slow tortoise, but says okay. They race and the hare, very ahead, decides to take a nap. The hare wakes up only to see that the tortoise is at the finish line.
Why, “The Tortoise and the Hare?” • This story taught me that you shouldn’t rush through things expecting things to come out perfect; instead you should take things slowly and carefully • In order to succeed you have to keep going, even if you’re taking baby steps towards your goal, constantly working towards it is beneficial • I don’t give up even if I find myself stuck and I don’t always expect everything I want to achieve to come out perfect right away. I know that it can take time but it is not impossible.
Job Shadow Teacher • I chose to job shadow a 2nd grade teacher. • Not my ideal career, it is my alternate option, but I wanted to get a better perspective of what a teacher usually does on a daily basis. • Great experience.
Wrapping It Up. • PAST: • I wanted to become a teacher. • School, for me, wasn’t as serious. • PRESENT: • I feel nervous to enter the “real world.” • However, I want to make my parents proud. • I am doing whatever it takes to succeed and reach my goals. • FUTURE • I want to attend Fresno State and major in Business Administration to become an accountant. • I want to have a stable home and a wonderful family.
Thank you for your precious time! Any Questions??
