  4. What does NAFTA do? • NAFTA provides the free trading of goods between Mexico, the United States, and Canada. • This means that anything traded between these countries is not taxed.

  5. What are the PROS of NAFTA? • Goods traded are free of taxes • Mexico is wealthier than before • Assembly plants flourished in Mexico • Population migration increased in border regions • Millions of new jobs were created • Increased the quality of life for some Mexicans.

  6. What are the CONS of NAFTA? • American jobs “ go south” • Manufacturers moved factories to Mexico • Low wages for workers in Mexico • Americans and Canadians lost jobs
