Poor Process Can Ruin Strategy Execution • Lubber was a global leader in supplying water based liquid coolants for metalworking industries. • Choosing coolants resulted in too much machine down time and grew very expensive for the company. • Lubber devised a plan to cut selection time from 50 percent to only 10 percent. • This process reduced machine down time as well as eliminated the trial phase therefore simplifying the sales process.

  4. Poor Process Can Ruin Strategy Execution: Result • The strategy was doomed because the sales force fought it. • The sales representatives were upset about the trial phase being eliminated. • They felt left out of the whole decision making process and were not willing to cooperate with the new plan. • Sales did not take off and management were forced to pull the new plan and work on rebuilding trust with its sales representatives.
