The AIT Department • As of this week, everything is on hold! • Waiting for approval from Dr. Dan • All those international students might want a MSISeC • So, we’re currently in a “holding pattern” • Nevertheless, let’s discuss some of the issues facing a combined department
AIT Issues: A CIT Coordinator • Whom do we want to recommend? • What responsibilities are involved? • Advising: default advisor; transfer students; MSISeC • Degree plan and curriculum direction and oversight • Developing/delegating promotional materials • Evaluating transfer work, computer proficiency, etc. • Coordinating promotional activities • Software acquisition/maintenance (e.g., MSDN, SAS, Oracle, . . . ) • That means that the AIT chair will • Evaluate faculty • Handle student complaints, etc. • Address overrides, class cancelations, . . . • Deal with financial issues (e.g., travel requests)
AIT Issues: Other Stuff • Physical property • “Library” (textbooks, journals, reference material, . . . ) • Files • Computer junk • Note: we’ll no longer have a conference room • For much of what we have we can just discard it • PRT and curriculum committee representation • Other things . . . ?
Curriculum • Report from our CoB committee representative (Russ) • Future of the MS program • From previous meeting • Current NEA students aren’t sufficient • Need to develop plan for alternate means of GA support • New opportunity • International students • Revised prerequisites needed • Dual track approach (Business/Technology)? • We each need to review the 2007/08 catalog to see what problems, corrections, changes need to be addressed
Miscellaneous • Employment opportunities • CUSI • Full-time • Internships • Associated Electric Cooperative, Inc. (AECI) • IT Services • SAS programmer / data analyst • Business Objects • Announcements: please make sure you pass them on to students • Student recruitment/retention • NSO: Today and several times between now and August • Preview Day: February
