1. Dr Byron Brown - Former Private Practice Owner Before he started his current position at a teaching hospital, Dr. Byron Brown formed his own private practice where he offered a range of medical services to his patients, primarily focused on the areas of obstetrics and gynecology. He ran the practice successfully for nine years, eventually choosing to close it and move onto other opportunities in the wake of the 2008 recession, which had caused a number of problems for the local hospital that directly affected his practice’s success.

2. Dr Byron Brown - Obstetrics and Gynecology Dr. Byron Brown entered into obstetrics and gynecology after taking a rotation in the field during his studies at medical school. He had previously considered entering into a career in general surgery, but found that he had a passion for helping women through childbirth and providing aftercare to ensure they stayed safe in the months that followed. He received his American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology certification in 2004 and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr Byron Brown - Residency After completing his fourth year at medical school, during which time he was able to take an elective course that took him to Edinburgh, Scotland, Dr. Byron Brown entered into a Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. He learned an enormous amount during this time, but the period is also notable for being when he first met his wife, who is a neonatal intensive care nurse. The couple had their first child during Brown’s fourth year of residency. Dr. Byron Brown was born in Greenwood, South Carolina in 1972, growing up on his family’s cattle farm. He learned about the values of hard work and dedication from an early age, as he worked with his father and grandfather after school, during the weekends and in the summer. He also began demonstrating an aptitude for academia when he was a child, which eventually allowed him to take several university-level courses while he was studying at high school.

4. Dr Byron Brown - Winthrop University Dr. Byron Brown began studying for his Bachelor of Science at Winthrop University in 1990, completing his studies in 1993 and graduating Cum Laude with a minor in Art. He attended university as a Winthrop Scholar, which is a four-year academic scholarship, enjoying a distinguished academic career in the process. He received Winthrop University Departmental Awards in Developmental Biology, Microbiology, Ecology and Immunology between 1992 and 1993. He also made the Dean’s List during each year that he was at the college.
