  2. Abstract • This presentation highlights the important aspects looked at when setting up your own practice. It takes into account that to have a successful practice takes more than being a good doctor, but it’s imperative that you have good business skills as well. This presentation serves as a guide in choosing the ideal location, be it at home, rented or bought business space, the number of rooms needed as well as the legislation involved. It also mentions the basic equipment needed, what is required for signage as well as how to structure your fees.

  4. THINKING OF P/P • ARE YOU SUITED. :- need business skills & personal trait. • WHAT DO YOU NEED. :- Location . How many Drs there? . What kind Drs are there?

  5. EQUIPMENTS NEEDED? : - Exam bed. - Diagnostic kit - Other parephenilias e.g. Waste containers, U/S, TENS etc. • PREMISES :- Can be at Home, Rented or Medical centers. - Standard 4 room with at least a toilets. - Waiting area, Dispensary, Consultation room & Store room.

  6. :- Need Name Board. - Name & qualifications - Practice number - Registered modality. • If at home or center it should not share entrance with main house or Pharmacy. • Fees :- Competitive with other practitioners. - Use systems such as Healthbridge to enhance payments.

  7. SETTING UP A PRACTICE • NAMING YOUR PRACTICE. :- It should reflect your business strategy. Why? - Cause patients may infer a lot from your practice and first impression count. •THE NATURE OF PRACTICE. :- Are you specializing or do you do house calls as well.
