Customizing BOM to add columns or change header to an abbreviation and/or upper case lettering
Scene & drawing with default BOM The sample scene • The sample scene & drawing. For this example, the part number & description have been put in properties of each block in scene. The BOM on the drawing represents what it looks like when it first comes into drawing. The sample drawing
Adding custom column • Double-click on the BOM to bring up the BOM editing panel shown.
Adding custom column • Right-click on a cell. The shown panel should come up. Choose ‘Insert column.’
Naming header for custom column • Double click the column letter (in this case column ‘B’) to bring up the BOM Column Header dialogue box. If column is not in order you want, afterwards rearrange by dragging column by name (A, B, C, etc.) to left or right.
Naming header for custom column Change text 2nd • Once the BOM Column Header dialogue box is visible, select the ‘Use a property other than the column title’ check box. Use the Associated property drop down menu to select ‘PartMass’. Insert a Column Title (i.e. WEIGHT). Select OK. Click here first
Resulting new BOM • New BOM now linked to drawing from scene. Repeat process for additional custom columns (like Mat’l). Start by clicking here Weight value here Click to lock in
Editing column header (to make abbreviation and/or upper case text) Change text 2nd • Double-click BOM to go to edit mode. Double-click on column letter (A, B, C, etc.). Click first on ‘Use a property other than column title …’. Next, in box at top type new name. Click ‘OK.’ Click here first
Finished edit • Repeat for each column. Use abbreviations to save space (or not), but ALL text must be upper case. If any text disappears or changes, repeat previous step. Check box must be checked first before text is edited.
