Electricity (Energy) Supply • DOER Alternative Portfolio Standard (APS) • APS requires a certain percentage of the state’s electric load to be met by eligible highly efficient technologies such as CHP • Allows Genzyme to monetize the energy efficiency of Allston Combined Heat & Power (CHP) plant

Electricity (Energy) Supply • Green Power • Strategy: purchase 100% green power for all certified green buildings • Approximately 15% of Genzyme global electricity is third party verified green power (RECs) • 2010: purchased over 65,000 MWH green power • Waterford, Ireland: 46,727 MWH yielding reduction of 27,423 MTCO2e at zeropricepremium
