The Flow of the Game The game is played in rounds There are 5 possible phases in a round. Card abilities are listed aside the phase in which they happen I Explore: Look for and get cards II Develop: Play a development ( ) card III Settle: Play a world ( ) card $ Trade: Trade a “good” ( ) for “money” ( ) # IV Consume: Consume “goods” ( ) for points (VPs)( ) V Produce: Production worlds “produce” “goods” ( )
Two Main Types of Cards Worlds Developments • What they do: • Give the player bonus abilities • Worth victory points (VPs) at the end
World Classifications Military Must be “conquered” to play Non - Military Windfall Must be “purchased” to play Gets a “good” as soon as it’s played Non - Windfall Does not get a “good” as soon as it’s played Production “Produces goods” Non - Production Does not “produce goods”
Production and Windfall Worlds come in 4 flavors Blue Green Brown Yellow Goods on a world are considered goods of the worlds color. Ex. Green Production World “produces” Green Goods
World Classifications will sometimes be combined Military + Blue Production World Must be “conquered” “Produces blue goods” Military + Green Windfall World Must be “conquered” Gets a “green good” immediately when played
How to Settle a World Non-Military World Military World # # Purchase by applying discounts and paying cards from hand “Conquer” by having equal or more total military strength than that of the planet # Your tableau Military World Non-Military World Cost +1 >= # -1 -2 Apply Discounts 6 +2 # Pay remainder in “money” +3
