Defining the requirements (Response) • Need to tie to existing operational systems. • Integrate with existing infrastructure symbols • Separate “Operational” symbology from others • Granularity of symbols + Fit-For-Purpose Symbology sets • User testing • Definitions E.g.. Staging Areas • Outreach and Promotion for general public • Joined up government • Strategic thinking leading to uptake

Current situation (Response) What are the problems, issues …etc • Symbology + software limitations • Scalability + National consistency • Cost effectiveness and divide between systems • Time and coordination of input at national scale • Training & immediacy of requirement • Adopt existing standards (ICSS) • Establish Buy-in + range of maturity of uptake. • Inter-sector > inter-jurisdiction. • Operational verses strategic + definition of common requirement. • Attribution context

Preferred scenario (Response) • CONSISTENT SET • Linking to International standards and a national catalog • Scale dependency • Hierarchical • Single attribution • INFORMATION REQUIREMENTS SPELT-OUT • Classification and transferability • Covering all stages from mitigation to relief and discovery (PPRR) • Stratified • TECHNOLOGY AND MEDIA INDEPENDENT • Classification and transferability • INTUITIVE • Simple and scalable • used for public and by public (eventually) • Colour (?), but clear in B&W. • GOVERNANCE, MAINTENANCE AND CUSTODIANSHIP • Dynamic
