BusnesCymdeithasolCymru Social Business Wales /businesswales.gov.wales/socialbusinesswales Theatr Soar Enriching lives in Merthyr through the arts Following the unprecedented success of its chapel renovation project, Canolfan Soar became a company limited by guarantee and reopened in 2011 with its flagship Theatr Soar The centre’s main income comes from theatre and dance group bookings, music lessons and community groups interested in exploring the Welsh language and local culture.

It does this through involvement in a green social enterprise which creates and sells innovative home and garden products from discarded items in a supported learning environment.

Over 200 beneficiaries per year across the project Upskilling 500 people a year from disadvantaged backgrounds Working on the construction of a second site in the Gower, with plans to develop a new programme for commercial organisations
