What are Dermal Fillers? A dermal filler is a natural or synthetic collagen used for injection in to the dermis for fillingup the soft tissues. Hence, their primary use is for wrinkles, and depressed acne scars. Anideal dermal filler should be non-allergenic, non-carcinogenic, non-teratogenic, inert, andshould not degrade fast. Dermal Fillers can be classified based on: a. Origin - natural and synthetic b. Source - autograft and allograft c. Content - collagen, fat, hyaluronic acid and silicones d. Duration - temporary and permanent For which skin conditions can dermal fillers be used?
