  2. Based on the last group session a plan for a ECIBON website/portal has been drafted that shall provide you with access to relevant tools for your future work.

  3. Headlines for contents • EU market information (geographical & product) • EU market regulation • Exporting/market access tools • Other management tools for IBO’s and their members • Importing from Nepal • Forum for debate/discussion amongst IBO’s

  4. 1. EU market information • 27 countries x 12+ commodities = over 300 potential product markets to describe! • The Dutch Center for Promotion of Imports from Developing countries (CBI) website provides free access to reports in most markets/product categories. www.cbi.eu • EEC staff can provide assistance in IBO registration as users of CBI website and in generating reports • Internal search function on the ECIBON website for other links and reports that can be downloaded

EU market regulation • EU has an existing EU Export Help Desk specifically for exporters (and IBO’s) from developing countries • http://exporthelp.europa.eu/ • Contains all needed info on market access requirements, taxes, import tariffs/preferential trade regimes, customs documents etc. • EEC staff can provide additional assistance in finding info via the help desk

Exporting/market access tools • Various comprehensive exporters manuals (from CBI and from the International Trade Center a.o.) • Training material from the ECIBON project • Links to sites that allow Nepalese companies to register their business offers towards European companies • www.dipp.eu (the Danish Import Promotion Programme) • www.e-trade-center.com

  7. 4. Other management and practical tools for IBO’s and -members • World Bank’s IBO manual • Fundraising manual for NGO’s • Training material ECIBON project • Link to full fledged SME toolkit • Links to sources of freeware

Importing from Nepal • Should any European potential importers happen to come by the site, there must be a minimum of information available for them: • Short presentation of main exportable commodities • Short presentation of the IBO’s, the main commodities their members produce and what kind of services you can provide importers with (if any)

Forum for IBO debate • A debate/discussion forum where IBO’s can engage in a dialogue on issues re. export markets, IBO operation or other issues of broader IBO interest • IBO’s must register as debate users with a short profile, and can then freely post topics and/or questions for other users of the site. (Open to other IBO’s as well) • The forum can also be used for asking for assistance from EEC Nepal staff, for example for searching for information etc.

Things the website cannot deliver(even if we would have liked to..) • Future sources of income/funding for IBO’s • Finding specific new customers for Nepalese exporters • Providing a professional marketing platform for Nepalese exporters and exportable goods • Providing a platform for direct business information exchange between EU and Nepal

  11. The process • Nepalese web developer selected • Input for the portal/website will come from DFSME and ECIBON staff • The website will be continuously be maintained by EEC Nepal office after the ECIBON project stops
