The God of All Grace 1 Peter 5:6-14
What you believe about God and about your future shapes how you live today.
Promises During Suffering • Suffering is temporary
For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. (2 Cor. 4:17-18)
Promises During Suffering • Suffering is temporary • Suffering may be intense, but God’s grace is stronger • Your salvation is a call to eternal glory
“But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” (1 Peter 2:9)
“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.” (1 Peter 2:21)
“Do not repay evil for evil or reviling for reviling, but on the contrary, bless, for to this you were called, that you may obtain a blessing.” (1 Peter 3:9)
Promises During Suffering • God is personally involved in your strengthening
“And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace…willhimselfrestore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.” 1 Peter 5:10
God’s Role in Your Strengthening • Restore – put your character in order • Confirm – enable your faith • Strengthen – make you firm in your faith • Establish – give you a secure foundation
Promises During Suffering • God is personally involved in your strengthening • God will triumph over all evil • Others triumphed; so will you
