  2. Basic Photoshop layout • Tool Bar: Crop, pointer, draw, text, magnify, marquee • Layers panel: Top layers sit ‘above’ layers underneath; can hide, lock layers • History panel: Jump back and forth for quick fixes • Filter menu: Unsharp mask

  3. Cropping photos • Fixed dimensions • Utilize centered arrow • Rule of thirds • Subjects should show movement • Stick with caption info • Crop tight for small thumbnails

  8. Toning • Crop first, then tone depending on photo makeup • Levels / Autolevels • Brightness / Darkness • Contrast • Hue / Saturation • Variations • Can use history panel to take steps back • Unsharp mask

  9. Save for Web • Save for web at 50-60% • Choose the correct format for image (JPG for photo; GIF for graphic) • Save image • Lowercase • One word
