University of LjubljanaFaculty of Chemistry and Chemical TechnologyResearch group: Analytical chemistry doc. dr. Matija Strlic
The Analytical chemistry research group: • 4 professors • 8 assistants (6 with PhD) • 4 researchers (2 paid from FP5 projects!) • Main fields of research and expertise: • spectroscopy (AAS, ICP-MS, chemiluminescence) • chromatography (LC: reversed phase-, ion-, size exclusion-, GC) • electromigration techniques (electrochromatography, • capillary electrophoresis) • electrochemistry (electrode processes, voltammetry, corrosion, • spectroelectrochemistry) • automation and chemometry (continuous and flow injection analysis, • automated separations, robotics)
Main international projects: • FP5: – research project coordinated at the institution • construction and testing of a prototype chemiluminometer for non- • destructive assessment of oxidative stability of organic materials: • www.papylum.uni-lj.si • FP5: INKCOR – research project • stabilisation of iron during oxidative degradation of organic materials • using non-aqueous antioxidants • FP5: MIP – thematic network • EUREKA E!2542 • construction and testing of a laser prototype for surface cleaning of • organic materials • COST G7 & G8 • development of non- and micro destructive analytical methods; laser • cleaning • numerous bilateral projects
Main Slovenian projects: • National Research Programme • development and testing of new analytical methods and techniques • Research project: m-pH • development and testing of a micro-pH electrode to be used in • macromolecular environments • Research project: OTA • determination of Ochratoxine A (mycotoxine) in Slovenian wines • Research project: Copper in sustainable viticulture • determination of phytotoxic Cu levels and its role in enzymatic oxidation of • phenolic compounds • Industrial project: Investigation of composite Ni-SiC plating of Al • Commissioned analyses/research for the pharmaceutical industry
Our FP6 expectations: • 6 EoI were submitted • 2 NoE and 1 STREP currently in preparation • Our possible contributions: • development of analytical methods and procedures for samples in • environmental, food, material sciences • studies of inorganic material protection and degradation: metal • corrosion, composite and alloy plating (Ni-SiC, Zn-Ni), investigation of • electrode processes • studies of organic material protection and degradation: oxidative • stability (e.g. food, pharmaceuticals), studies of antioxidants • environmental monitoring of pollutants (toxic substances, automated • cyanide determination), VOCs in water, air and soil • routine, fully automated (robotised) analyses.
