Diocesan Liquor Policy Options for Serving Liquor Are as follows: Hosting or serving Selling it or having a vendor sell it ABSOLUTE NO BYOB’S BY PARISH OR THIRD PARTY GROUPS!!! All scenarios presented must follow the Liquor Liability Guidelines on Insurance Office Website.
Hosting or serving The Parish or one of its ministries can serve liquor without charge if purchased and served by the parish or ministry. A non-affiliated group can also serve liquor without charge (i.e. Knights of Columbus) if they purchase it and serve it. However, their certificate of insurance must state coverage for “Host Liquor Liability.”
Selling it or having a vendor sell it The Parish or one of its ministries can sell liquor if they have a liquor license and sales go back to the parish (i.e. festivals, casino nights). If the Parish or ministry hire a vendor to sell and serve liquor, they must have a liquor license and a certificate of insurance that must state “Liquor Liability.” Non-affiliated groups can sell liquor, but must provide parish copy of liquor license and of insurance for the vendor they hire to sell it or if they sell it themselves.
