  2. The Problem Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?” Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.”

The Particulars • Your sin is a debt you can never repay • You can work a lifetime and never repay the debt • Your debt was wiped away • You can stand before God cleansed, • forgiven, and blameless No matter how badly we’ve been hurt or how bad what someone did appears to us, it’s nothing when compared to what God has forgiven us for!

  4. The Penalty And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.”

  5. Reasons why we should FORGIVE: Because anything less is hypocritical Because the Law of Retaliation never works Because of the torment that an unforgiving spirit inflicts on us
