Project Presentation Modernisation and Reconstruction of University Management and Structure in the fields: • Integration • Internationalisation • Bologna Process/Implementation • Student services (IRO/Stud. Off./Int. Off.) • Quality • Financing • Establishment of Career Centres
Project Presentation Results: • Universities remain non-integrated, but legislation was adopted • Universities improved the position of central university offices and have obtained recommendations by experts for further improvement • Universities have first start-ups of career centres, some have them ready • University equipped the university offices with equipment • Universities have tighter cooperation and plan a new project
Project Management Year 1 and 2: • Divided grant holder and coordinator • Activities: training and updating and coordination meetings, purchase of equipment • Retirement of grant holder and departure of coordinator Interim year: transfer of grant holder and coordinator status
Project Management Year 3: • Re-Start; new work plan • Workshops with discussions, no presentations, except one input; use of local language; focus on implementation • Peer Review; follow up • Final Dissemination Conference • Change in way of project management
Project Management Changes in Project Management: • Individual coordination meetings (bilateral)also with partnershaving problems • Adoption of new work plan - commitment • Group coordination at workshops – follow up • Communication with EACEA before taking steps (regarding changes) • Contracting of former grant holder (continuity) • Change of financial management, due to national legislation • Final Dissemination Conference • Final reporting – contacting former grant holder
Project Management Financial Management • Mobility: Individual Mobility reports, cash + direct payment of stay by coordinator; double documents (Slovenian + English); • Staff Costs: Individual contracts + Staff Conventions; payment of own staff with 100% workload on other sources (article 63 Higher Education Act) • Overheads: most at coordinator level, less at partner level, not all partners requested • Printing & Publishing Costs: not requested by all partners • Communication: two languages always(increase of costs of printing)
Experience Gained • Continuity is essential • Communication inside the university (between offices and between faculty and rector‘s office) • Communication with partners • TRUST • Use of language • Project ideas • EACEA very understanding and pro-active
JoinEU SEE IV - University of Maribor is partner institution (up to 40 incoming and appr. 15 outgoing students and staff). Area: WBC • Project management in tight cooperation with coordinating institution (University of Graz). • Annual Meetings for Selection • On-line portal for applications (electronic + signed paper); multi-level control • Financial management (challenging due to variations in national legislations and rates) • Differentiation between LLP Erasmus and Erasmus Mundus!
