Soda Free Summer Strategies • Soda Free Summer • A 10-week Bay Region campaign • Empowers young people and adults to reduce their consumption of sugar and begin by eliminating sodas • Utilizes a broad cross-section of county-wide partnerships and collaborations to communicate the soda free message
2008 Campaign Evaluation • Survey respondents (72 percent) found the Soda Free Summer brochure very useful • 86 percent of survey respondents who recalled reading the brochure said they discussed the Soda Free Summer campaign with their family • 47 percent of all respondents reported drinking less soda and 40 percent drinking more water • 84 percent of the survey respondents who used the Soda Free Summer tracking calendar were soda free for most or all days • Hispanic respondents reported drinking soda more frequently than other ethnic groups and over half (55 percent) said they recently decreased their soda intake
