Fire Response Recommendation Upon dispatch to an industrial accident: • Battalion needs to confirm location of incident - north side, south side, or in the water • Recommend upgrading to Zone 3 rescue response for rope and water staging - south side on 14th Ave S. or north side on 16th Ave S. • Direct a boat to respond to south side of 14th Ave S. launch to support rescue

  3. ____-pound Crane on South Side of Bridge Can be utilized to pick up a patient secured in stokes basket Consider utilizing a ladder truck for high point

  4. JOBSHACK • The job shack is located on north side of the river just west of bridge ramp • Have an additional company or battalion respond to help coordinate rescue

  5. Caissons Caissons have several entanglements and sharp hazards inside

  6. Same Operation on South Side of River

  7. All workers have: • Harnesses • PFDs • Fall Protection

  8. Looking Down into Caisson Looking down from upper lip of caisson about 20 feet down During construction you may encounter water in the base of the caisson

  9. Added Steel Reinforcement to Support Crane Operation During heavy lift operation, there is a potential for catastrophic failure IC will need to establish accountability of worker and last scene point to assist in rescue plan

  10. North Side Access Ramp to Caisson Any fire personnel operating at this site must don: PFD helmet eye protection fall protection

  11. Cranes Used to Move Rebar Construction crews assemble rebar on old portion of bridge to be lowered in by cranes.

  12. Goals Scene safety Quick access to patient to assess needs Establish extrication plan with backup Go big early and scale back as needed

  13. Summary This site offers several hazards PPE should include PFD, helmet, eye and fall protection A class-3 harness should be added if working in or around the caisson
