Before presenting checklist • Run through the slide sorter & re-order slides • Hide slides you don’t want to show • Are your sections clearly laid out so audience is clear when you move on? • Run through slideshow view and check: • Animations work as you expected • Are titles & placeholders in a consistent position across slides? If not “reset” • Is any text too small? Size 30 should be minimum • Maximum of 15 words per slide ideally • Has every slide got 6 or less objects? • You should avoid video/gifs/repeating animations unless its playing without you talking. • Check there isn’t dark text on dark backgrounds (or light on light) • Using numbers/statistics, try one per slide • Do any shapes & pictures look strange? Use either transparent or give a frame. • Are any images out of proportion? • IT issues • Check file size & reduce is need be • Use “Compress media” AND “compress pictures”? • Preparation for delivering • Is your beginning engaging? Are you using interaction/stories etc.? • Build in Question time into your timings • How will you have your notes? • Run a spell check • Create a closing line to remember • Need to “send slides after”? Create “Notes pages”, bullet pointing narration • Understand the set up • Will you have access to your computer screen? • Will you use presenter view or slide show view? • Learn some presenting keyboard shortcuts. Shift + F5 to open then “B” when presenting • If you use other computer files, do you have a quick way to get there? • Double check all equipment: • Cables, cords & adapters/plug sockets • Laser & remote control • Projectors (battery & custom settings are OK) plus wall is clear for image
