  2. Description of Lord Vishnu Vishnu is known as the preserver of the universe and is, therefore, a loving and forgiving figure who brings salvation Has four arms in which he holds: • a conch shell, • a discus • a lotus • a mace He also have many incarnations and avatars

  3. Furthermore... Vishnu is an all-Pervading essence of all beings, the master of—and beyond—the past, present and future Vishnu governs the aspect of preservation and sustenance of the universe. This is why he is called 'Preserver of the universe'.

  4. What Does Each Object Represent? The conch: the sound this produces 'Om', represents the primeval sound of creation The chakra, or discus: symbolises the mind The lotus flower: an example of glorious existence and liberation The mace: represents mental and physical strength

  5. Why Lord Vishnu is Important to Hinduism Lord Vishnu’s purpose is to conquer evil and establish righteousness. Hindus believe that one of his incarnations is the founder of Buddhism, Siddartha Gautama
