  3. Opportunity Centers Facilities Fuel Machine Shop Physical Plant Aquaculture Lab Aeronautics School Marine and Environmental Sciences Physical Science Building Life Sciences Building Performing Arts Center Materials & Universal Testing Labs Building

  4. Operations Targeted • Chemical inventories • Performing Arts productions • Fleet maintenance • Cooling and heating systems • Marine research vessels • Building energy use

  5. Projects Selected Replaced carbureted 2-stroke marine outboard motors with newer injected versions Replaced gasoline-powered vehicles with EUVs Constructed a PV-powered shed to house and charge the EUVs

  6. Marine Repowering Project • Purchased 7 Evinrude E-TEC model outboard motors - $59,000 • Salvage values allowed purchase of 2 additional replacements • More efficient • Less maintenance • Fewer moving parts • No mixing of oil with gas

  7. Marine Repowering Project • Saved • 60 % on gas • 50% on oil • 65% on emissions • Gear oil-change interval tripled

  8. EUVs – Charging Facility Project • Purchased 20 electrical utility vehicles - $200,000 • Constructed a storage shed • Prefab metal Shed - $18,845 • Photovoltaic charging roof panel - $59,760

  9. EUVs – Charging Facility Project • Saved • 30% in fleet fuel use and vehicular emissions • PV panel provides 30% of electricity needed

  10. Expanded Benefits “Exotic” projects chosen Projects are “out-of-the-norm” in nature Served as “test” projects for other applications Motivated the facility to use monies saved to further invest in P2 Projects
