Species There are many different species of bats. There is 42 species of bats in Ohio. The smallest bat is the Bumble Bee bat, it is the size of your finger tip. The biggest bat is the Flying Fox bat. It has a wing span of 6 feet.
Body Type Most of the bats are small and some are big. They have big thumbs for climbing. Some have big noses and some have big ears. All of the bats are different sizes.
What Do Bats Eat? Bats have weird diets. Most eat insects but some eat nectar and fruit. Bats use echolocation for finding prey. Vampire bats don’t eat insects or fruit they drink blood.
Where Do Bats Live? Bats live everywhere except the poles. Bats like to live in dark and warm places. Most bats like damp places. They live in trees, attics, chimneys and caves.
Who are the Enemies? Bats have many enemies such as snakes. They even get eaten by birds like owls. A lot of times they get eaten. The other enemy is sometimes they eat the other bats.
Bats are Nocturnal Bats are nocturnal. They can see in the dark so they can catch their prey. Some people say they are blind, but they are not blind.
