  3. Features of introduction • Brings attention to an observation/problem • Creates arousal / curiosity in the audience • Depicts the writer’s inclination towards the subject • Seemingly casts- and or dispel doubts on a matter • Clearly bears the authors stream of thought

  4. Highlights what is being done/ or the opinion currently being held globally concerning the subject matter • Generates interest in the study being proposed • May solicit for initiation or extinction of certain procedures in clinical practice • Aim to improve content or procedures of practice • Offer solution to a problem

  5. Contents of Introduction • Feature what other researchers have done in the past • Criticize the need for improvement in their research method, issues addressed, sample involved etc • Identify certain issues and problems in another study or in the community that requires research into • Compare various researches done on a topic in a particular field • Raises questions on incidents and procedures in clinical practice and thus generates the discussions that eventually occurs in the literature review.
