Publications • Twenty-five new books were published in 2009. Fourteen titles are in production for publication in 2010. • MAA Members receive a 20% discount on the entire list of over 250 books. • MAA Textbooks are thriving, with many textbook titles on the bestseller list of 2009. • Five MAA Guides have been published and there are several more in the pipeline. Currently, we are publishing our second online textbook, Calculus: Modeling & Application, which will be available for Fall adoption.
MAA Calculus I Study • In Fall, 2010, the MAA will conduct a nation-wide online survey of Calculus I instructors and students in American colleges and universities. • The goals of this study are: • To improve our understanding of the demographics of students who enroll in calculus, and • To measure the impact of the various characteristics of calculus classes that are believed to influence student success. • In late April, MAA will contact chairs at over 500 two- and four-year colleges and universities, asking them to participate. • To get an accurate national picture, we need participation from all colleges that are asked. • At the conclusion, a summary of the national results and results from that institution will be provided to the chair.
