What The Critics Said. http://wwww.readingmatters.co.uk/book.php?in=71 The hobbit is a representation of all of in the fact that we are all comfortable with the status quo but can be subject to change. http://dauntlessmedia.net/middle-earth/hobbit/book-review.html The hobbit was a precursor to all modern fantasy. Though Bilbo Baggins, the protagonist, seems to be the typical hobbit and not enjoy adventure in the beginning, his character is shaped by his companions throughout the story.
What I Say In my opinion, the book had a terrific story line. However, the writing style is obviously more suited for the younger reader. I found it to have poor sentence structure and a vocabulary that does not reach far past the 8th grade. I would not recommend this book to anyone over ager ten.
