  2. What is grammar? • SYNTAX  The arrangement of words in sentences, e.g. rules about word order. • MORPHOLOGY  The internal structure of words, e.g. rules about inflections.

  3. Course Aims Upon completion of the course, the students should be able to: • use basic grammar terminology to describe English language rules and to explain similarities and differences between Swedish and English. • apply these language rules in practice and produce grammatically correct English.

  4. Assessment • Assessment is based on a final written exam in two parts (theory and practice). • One of the grades Distinction (VG), Pass (G), or Fail (U) is awarded in the examination of each section. • In order to pass the course, students must pass each section separately. • In order to be awarded an overall VG, a VG on both parts of the test is required.
