  7. Other Common Errors • Using “which” when you need a “that” or “that” when you need a “which”

Activity • In the left margin, identify the type of errors in each sentence (may be more than one): • Run-on • Comma splice • Subject-verb agreement • Sentence Fragment • Typo • Other clarity issue • After you have labeled them all, as a team, rewrite the sentences to be more clear and grammatically correct.

Some Tips & Tricks for Proofreading & Polishing • Control + F or Command + F • Read from last to first sentence • Read aloud • Have a trusty friend read your writing to you • Focus on 1 mistake at a time • Give yourself a day between writing and proofreading • Check out the External Resources link on Bb • Go the Writing Center
