2. 2 What is Terrorism? Violence or the threat of violence calculated to create fear for the
purpose of coercing or intimidating governments or societies
and which is used to achieve political, religious, or ideological
goals. Both the Global War on Terrorism and the potential of antagonist behavior directed against USFK personnel require all personnel to be vigilant regarding our force protection and potential acts of terrorism. Personnel associated with the U.S. Government are often targets for terrorist activity. One of the most important individual protective measures DoD personnel can take is to develop personal habits and practices that frustrate terrorist attempts to determine their nationality, profession, individual job responsibilities, association with the Department of Defense and their overall importance to the Department of Defense. Both the Global War on Terrorism and the potential of antagonist behavior directed against USFK personnel require all personnel to be vigilant regarding our force protection and potential acts of terrorism.
