  1. Personal Profile My name is Tan Boon Xian. I was born on 15th October 1993 in Kuala Lumpur as a third child in my family. The unconditional support and love from both my parent help me a lot throughout the journey of my life.I consider myself lucky to have such a wonderful family. Living in a small and discrete town of Ulu Yam Baru,Selangor for about 20 years,I definitely adore the simple life in a small town.

  2. Aspiration I believe that each of us has our own hopes and dreams. As for me, I hope one day I will succeed in my life by achieving an excellent result in any field of studies and has a bright future in my career for one fine day. One of my highest aspirations is to be one of those who establishes from many aspects such as knowledge, career, social interaction and so on. My first choice is in Nanyang Technological University with Bachelor Sciences (Honours) in Mathematical Sciences. My second choice is Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) (Mathematics and Economics) in UniversitiSains Malaysia. My third choice is in Universiti Utara Malaysia with Bachelor of Decision Science with Honours This is because, I have keep my interest in Mathematics subjects since primary school.

  3. Academic Background • Primary School In my primary schooling, I studied at SJKC Kg.Gurney.I only scored 3A,2B and 2C in UPSR. • Secondary School I furthered my studies in a government school, SMK Bandar BaruBatangKali.I settled down for my PMR with only 1A,3B,2C,and 2D.I continued my Form 4 and Form 5 by sitting in a science class. The Form 4 and Form 5 syllabus is totally different with Form 3,it is more tougher and challenger. Therefore, I worked pretty hard during Form 5. All my hard work and sacrifice was paid off during SPM examination until I scored 3A+,2A-,1C+,1C,and 3D in SPM. Unfortunately, due to my Malay and English Languages result in SPM, I was unable to pursue my study in any government school for STPM. Therefore,i was settled for SPM Ulangan for Malay Languages and i scored B. • Pre-University I further my study in SekolahMenengahImpian Bukit Mertajam (SMIBM) which is a private school and located at Bukit Mertajam,Pulau Pinang. During Form 6, I was sitting in art and commerce class. I work hard for my STPM. My hard work has been rewarded as I scored 4.00 as known as 4 flat. • Conclusion As a conclusion, hard work is really important for us. As a Chinese, we absolutely believe that the main factors of success are fate, people around us and ourselves. Without hard work, we can’t change anything in our life.

Working Experience School : SJK(C) ChoongChee, Hulu Yam Lama Position : Temporary Teacher Period : January 2013 – onward Experience : • Teach remedial class for Malay Language (Year 1, 2, 5 and 6) and Mathematics subjects (Year 1 and Year 2). • Teach Computer Class for Year 1 until Year 6. • As a coach for Badminton and Basketball Club.

  6. Reason for deserving the scholarship I think I deserve this Genting Malaysia Scholarship because I have the ability to follow through with all the hard work that will take me to achieve my dreams and my goals. I believe in myself and I believe with this scholarship, it will give me the foundation that I need to build a better me and enable me to become a person who makes a difference in this world.
