Computational Thinking by Hyo Na Lee CSE 3 Fluency with Information Technology Hyo Na Lee Computational Thinking Overview Presentation of Information with MS PowerPoint Desktop Publishing with MS Word With the Microsoft PowerPoint, we learned to present information in a clear and visual method. By using MS PowerPoint, we were able to organize information efficiently and learned to present data in a visual manner. Introduces the concepts and skills necessary to effectively use information technology. Includes basic concepts and some practical skills with computer and networks. With the use of Microsoft Word, we were able to use its advanced features to create documents with efficient space organization. We were able to add pictures to the documents and learned to position them correctly. Through this lab, we also learned to add tables onto the documents and also learned to position them within the document. After we created these documents, we uploaded them online as .pdf files. Making Information Available to the World with HTML and Web Pages Data Analysis and Visualization with MS Excel With Microsoft Excel, we learned to organize information and data quickly and efficiently. We learned to quickly use mathematic functions to calculate the numbers in the data without hassle or difficulties. We could also represent if the numbers in our data was decreasing or increasing with the use of icons in MS Excel. By using HTML coding, we learned to create our own webpages. We also learned to create links on our webpages that led to other webpages. With HTML, we were able to create tables, change the font, create headings, add pictures and more! Visual Programming with Alice Dynamic Webpage Programming with JavaScript In Alice, we learned to create objects, move objects, give dialogue to objects, create loops, and more. In Alice, we could choose and change the background setting – anything from a grassy field to a swamp. With the use of loops, we were able to create clocks and make frogs jump. With the use of JavaScript, we were able to create interactive webpages. Previously, we learned to create webpages with links but with JavaScript, we took it to another level. With interactive buttons, we were able to create tables that would calculate the cost of t-shirts, ask the user about their Halloween, and allow the user to play a blackjack game.
