  2. Let’s review vocab: • Get out your cartoons • Get out an index card. Put your name on it and number it 1 – 5. • Clear everything else off of your desk.

Review Vocab • Use the vocabulary words to fill in these sentences (context clues are provided in each sentence). • The worried owner searched __________________ for his missing dog. • The owner did not allow anyone to ___________ him from his search. • We gave the ________, hungry dog water and food. • My interest in the dog was _________; he ignored me. • When the owner walked in, the dog stared _______ and then furiously wagged his tail.

  4. Academic Vocabulary • Themes (recurring) – themes that we frequently hear and common around the world. • Context Clues – surrounding words and sentences that help us understand the meaning of a word • Look back at the vocabulary sentences

  5. Greek gods • What do you know? • Have you heard of Echo or Narcissus before? How?

  6. Helpful to know: • Zeus – most powerful god • Aphrodite – goddess of love • Hera – goddess of marriage

  7. Let’s read • Going up and down rows, each person reads a paragraph.
