THE GOOD SEED OF THE KINGDOM Text: Matthew 13:24-30 Mat 13:24 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; Mat 13:25 "but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way.
Mat 13:26 "But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared. • Mat 13:27 "So the servants of the owner came and said to him, 'Sir, did you not sow good seed in your field? How then does it have tares?' • Mat 13:28 "He said to them, 'An enemy has done this.' The servants said to him, 'Do you want us then to go and gather them up?‘ • Mat 13:29 "But he said, 'No, lest while you gather up the tares you also uproot the wheat with them.
Mat 13:30 'Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, "First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.“ INTRO: • Did you ever come to think or ask what is your purpose in life? • Why did God create us? • What was His intention when He created us?
AIM: • FOR US TO KNOW OUR PURPOSE IN LIFE; • FOR US TO LIVE ON OUR PURPOSE. I. THE REASON OF ALL OUR PROBLEMS • Disobedience • Separation from God • We became pre-occupied on seeking our material needs. • We were living out of purpose or no purpose at all.
Going back to God and His intention of creating us would solve our problems and make us understand what is our purpose in life. II. UNDERSTANDING GOD’S CREATION: • Gen 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and THE EARTH.
Isa 45:18 For thus says the LORD, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it TO BE INHABITED: "I [am] the LORD, and [there is] no other. • Gen 2:8 The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. • John 15:1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener.
God’s intention was to extend His heavenly Kingdom on earth. • He desired to fill the earth with His glory. • Numbers 14:21 "but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD— • Habakkuk 2:14 For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. • To extend the supernatural realms into the natural realms.
To extend the invisible to the visible world. • Eden was the touch of heaven on earth. • Eden was the replica of heaven. III. THE CULTURE OFEDEN • Psalm 115:16 The heaven, [even] the heavens, [are] the LORD's; • In essence, God decided to fill the earth with the culture of heaven But the earth He has given to the children of men.
In other words God was reigning the heavens and the earth but on earth He reigns indirectly through man. • Earth was man’s territory. • Eden shared a common language of heaven. They understand clearly and converse with God. • 1Cr 2:14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know [them], because they are spiritually discerned. • Eden shared the laws and constitution of heaven.
Eden and heaven shared common values and norms. • When Jesus taught His disciples to pray, He said, “Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. • Basically, He came for this purpose: • To destroy the works of the enemy-I John 3:8 • Because He is a king-John 18:37 • To restore the ruler ship of mankind on earth
For the Kingdom of heaven to come once again on earth. • Mat 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. • To re-establish the kingdom of heaven on earth. IV. MANKIND’S FIRST DUTIES: • Gen 1:28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air,
and over every living thing that moves on the earth." • Be fruitful • He who sows the good seed is the Son of man-v 37 • The field is the world-v 37 • THE GOOD SEEDS ARE THE SONS OF THE KINGDOM-V 37 • Mat 28:19 "Go therefore [fn] and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mat 28:20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, [even] to the end of the age." Amen • Mat 13:31 Another parable He put forth to them, saying: "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, • Mat 13:32 "which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches."
Mat 13:33 Another parable He spoke to them: "The kingdom of heaven is like leaven, which a woman took and hid in three measures of meal till it was all leavened." • The Lord wanted us to infect the world that is why he planted us where we are. • The yeast does not stop working until the whole dough is leavened. • The yeast does not flour but the flour become yeast. • Satan’s tactic is if he can’t kill you at least he can stop you from multiplying.
Luke 11:23 "He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. • The tares are the sons of the wicked one-v 38 2. Multiply 3. Replenish the earth -Add a new stock or supply -To fill or make complete 4. To subdue it (to conquer or take control) 5. Have dominion or rule over the earth.
V. HOW IS IT RELATED WITH SEEKING THE KINGDOM OF GOD? • The KINGDOM OF GOD is the governing influence of a king over his territory (domain), impacting it with his personal will, purpose and intent, producing a culture, values, morals and lifestyle that reflect the king’s desire and nature for his citizens. • Once an individual with the culture of heaven gathers with other people who have the same culture, it becomes a community.
Community comes from “COMMON” and “UNITY”. • As Christians, it should be our common unity to infect the world with the culture of heaven. • We should be united to fill the earth with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord. • Luke 9:50 But Jesus said to him, "Do not forbid [him], for he who is not against us is on our side." • Sad to say churches are not working for the same purpose.
We are fighting each other, we are divided, we have a crab mentality. • Some Christians are doing more harm than cure, more damage than profit. • Instead of representing heaven to the world, we represent hell. • Church pirating does not make sense, you just want to lessen the other and add yours, but of the same kingdom.
Mat 12:25 But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: "Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand. • Mat 12:26 "If Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then will his kingdom stand?
VI. GOD IS SERIOUS WITH KEEPING HIS SEED INTACT OR HEALTHY. • Mat 18:6 "But whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in Me to sin, it would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were drowned in the depth of the sea. • This was the same reason why Achan was expelled from the community and killed. Joshua 7 • Titus 3:10 Reject a divisive man after the first and second admonition,
2Th 3:14 And if anyone does not obey our word in this epistle, note that person and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed. • 2Th 3:15 Yet do not count [him] as an enemy, but admonish [him] as a brother. • Matt 18:15 "Moreover if your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault between you and him alone. If he hears you, you have gained your brother.
Mat 18:16 "But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that 'by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.' • Mat 18:17 "And if he refuses to hear them, tell [it] to the church. But if he refuses even to hear the church, let him be to you like a heathen and a tax collector.
CHALLENGE: • Are you a good seed or bad one? • Are you multiplying? • Are you causing damage or cure? CONCLUSION: Mat 13:37 He answered and said to them: "He who sows the good seed is the Son of Man. Mat 13:38 "The field is the world, the good seeds are the sons of the kingdom, but the tares are the sons of the wicked [one].
