Colleges are a great source for scholarships • Colleges compete for the best students • A common strategy is to apply to several colleges and compare financial award packages. • Some scholarships require a separate application. • Some scholarships are automatically reviewed with admissions applications. • Private colleges often have much more scholarship money available than public schools. • Small liberal arts colleges, especially in the Midwest often offer good scholarships. Geographic diversity can work to your advantage.

Examples of Mesa State Scholarships • Mesa State Scholarships (combination of 2 of 3 criteria) • Academic Achievement: $1,200 per year, renewable. 3.o gpa; top 20% of class; or a 22 ACT or 1040 SAT. • Presidential: 3.25 $2,000 per year, renewable. GPA:top 15% of class; or a 25 ACT or 1120 SAT • Trustee: $2,500 per year, renewable. 3.5 GPA; top 10%, 27 ACT or 1200 SAT • Distinguished: resident tuition and fees. 3.75 GPA; top 5% of class; 29 ACT or 1280 SAT. • First Generation: parents have not graduated from college. Document Financial need, 2.5 GPA, top 25% of class or 21 ACT or 970 SAT. • Register to retake ACT www.actstudent.org. Cost $33
