Barriers to Completion • “No time” • “Child rearing responsibilities” • “Too much class work” • “A little difficult” • The team did not have enough time with the group Lieberthal et al. Funded by SUNY IITG Grant Spring 2014
What the Students Thought (Beginning and Mid-year results very similar) • E-portfolio is a good thing to have • It’s good to know about technology • It’s good to be part of the group • The project did/will help to learn new technologies • The project did/will help to have fun with technology Lieberthal et al. Funded by SUNY IITG Grant Spring 2014
E-Portfolio Options • Digication (Stony Brook, LaGuardia Community College) • Mahara (SUNY Purchase) • WordPress (Temple Fox School) “Don’t get discouraged, it takes 5 years to get e-portfolio embedded” Lieberthal et al. Funded by SUNY IITG Grant Spring 2014
Fun Reception! Lieberthal et al. Funded by SUNY IITG Grant Spring 2014
Positive Outcomes for Investigators • Faculty collaboration • Relationships forged between faculty and veterans • Increased familiarity with e-portfolios and new technology • Expansion of interest in e-portfolios beyond the project Lieberthal et al. Funded by SUNY IITG Grant Spring 2014
Future Plans • Librarian (Krista Gruber) teaching e-portfolios per faculty requests (part of info. lit. session) • 2-3 technology related programs for SVA club planned for 2014-15 academic year • Career Services will partner with us for tech. programs • SVA room in library available every day instead of 2X week Lieberthal et al.
