  2. 26 …“Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominionover the fish of the sea, over the birds of the heavens, over the livestock and over all the earth…and so on… (cont’d) • --Genesis 1:26-31 (ESV)

  3. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. • --Genesis 1:26-31 (ESV)

  4. We resemble God mentally, relationally, and morally(in some respects)

  5. We resemble God: • 1. Mentally… because we are hard-wired to be creative and rational beings; to think, learn, and adapt

  6. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. • --Romans 12:2 (ESV)

  7. We resemble God: 1. Mentally • 2. Relationally… because we were designed to be relationally close to God and to other people

  8. 37 … “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. • 38 This is the great and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. • --Matthew 22:37-39 (ESV)

  9. 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinedresser (or gardener). 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 Already you are clean because of the word that I have spoken to you. (cont’d) • --John 15:1-11 (ESV)

  10. 4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. • 5 I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing… (cont’d) • --John 15:1-11 (ESV)

  11. 8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples. 9 As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments… (cont’d) • --John 15:1-11 (ESV)

  12. …and abide in his love. 11 These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full. • --John 15:1-11 (ESV)

  13. We resemble God: 1. Mentally 2. Relationally • 3. Morally… because we are hard-wired to know right and wrong

  14. We resemble God: 1. Mentally 2. Relationally • 3. Morally
