  6. Ongoing Issues (1) Manpower: How can we obtain the needed manpower to run our organization effectively and consistently? (2) Publicity: How can we increase our ability to inform the Goddard community of the benefits we offer?

  7. GEWA Manpower Goal: Obtain needed duty hours for Council members. The Exchange Council is made up of civil servants who run the organization on a day-to-day basis. Members of the Council are assigned duties by the President (committee work, oversight, planning, functional). Carrying out these duties should be official duty. Council members need sufficient duty time to devote to GEWA work (at least 8 hours a week). Both project and GEWA responsibilities are official duties. GEWA duties should be as important as other duties. When assigning Council members, we ask that employees not be placed in situations of having two full time jobs.

  8. Publicity Goal: To get the word out to the GSFC employees about GEWA services they care about and that benefit them. We often hear that people don’t know what we are doing. Communication opportunities and venues have been restricted in recent years to primarily e-mails and websites. Attendance at our special events has dropped by 50-80% since we went to primarily electronic distribution of information. What to do: More hardcopies of GEWA Newsletter? Access to centerwide e-mail distribution (6-10 times a year)? More ability to post Flyers in buildings? Dateline Goddard printed and sent out again in hardcopy?
