  3. placate (v) • To cause someone to feel less angry about something • Synonyms: to appease, to pacify, to conciliate

  4. apprehensive(adj.) • Viewing the future with anxiety or disarm • Synonyms: cautious, wary, fearful

  5. clandestine(adj.) • Something done secretly/privately • Synonyms: covert, stealthy, undercover

  6. digress (v) • to speak or to write about something that is not on topic • Synonyms: to ramble, to deviate, to meander

  7. audacious(adj.) • Something or someone that/who is very daring or confident • Synonyms: bold, brash, assertive

  8. nullify (v) • To cause something to have no value or to have no effect • Synonyms: to abate, to annul, to negate, to repeal
