  1. Comparison of Justinian and Attila the Hun By Ryan Reiners

  2. Attila the Hun • Was the leader of the Huns. • Was feared by many because he was so fierce. • He was not educated until he moved to Rome, where he learned to read and right and speak latin. • The Huns were also good at surviving the weather. • They were nomadic, and where ever they move they took everything.

  3. Continued… • Huns were very superstitious. • They use to tell prophecies and the future. • Attila left the Huns, but later on returned to them. • When his Uncle died his brother became king and Attila didn’t like that but he helped his brother expand there land, but he later grew tired of being on the sidelines and killed brother and took the crown. He also encouraged savage behavior.

  4. Picture • Scarry!

  5. Justinian • Divided the Roman empire, East and West. • The west fell to attacks • The east fought and won. • Germanic tribes take over west. • Emperor Con. moves the capital to Byzantium. • Good location if someone tries to attack and good spot for trading.

  6. Continued… • Emperor severed and a priest king. • Emperors were above the law and they also created laws. • Laws applied to everyone but it depended on where you were in status. • If you were rich or important, you would proub. Get a fine. • If you were poor, it could mean death.

  7. Still Going… • He spent lots of money to build building to make emprie grow. • This put them in debt. • To make up for this he taxed the people. • Everyone like the orthodox church as well. • Believed in one god. • The church and the gov. ruled as one. • Stopped worshiping icons.

  8. Comparison • Well they both tried to expand and make their empires better. • Both were bad leaders just because of what they did. • Attila was feared, but Justinian was not. • Both expanded their empires by huge amounts. • Both changed there way of ruling too. • Eventually the church was involved in to the government, but in Attila’s situation, he told his people to be agresive. • Very hard to compare the two.
