Non-8.33 kHz Aircraft Equipage above FL195 15 March 2007
Aircraft Retrofit >FL195 • 200+ targeted civil operators • ~700 aircraft equipped or planned • Technical solutions (SB/STC) exist but: • Late SB for Saab340s equipped Bendix-King • Wulfsberg radio supply problems for Fokker 50s • Reasons why not equipped? • Future fleet change • Wait & see who will enforce mandatory carriage? • Fly rarely above FL195 • COST! • Few considering flying below FL195
State Aircraft 8.33 kHz Equipage • CMIC members plus observer organisations submitting equipage plans annually • 21 organisations have submitted plans • IR will oblige others! • Results indicate: • Nations focusing on TRANSPORT-TYPE • 749 ECAC airframes equipped between now and 2010 • 1304 Total airframes equipped between now and 2010 • By 2010: • 90% transport type • 50% combat aircraft • 30% light aircraft
