TASS: Overview of Capabilities • Web-based income verification application which is accessed via • HUD secure server • Matches tenant information to Social Security benefit information (SS/SSI) • Provides three reports for users • Benefit History Report • Income Discrepancy Report • Error Report • Reports are created 4 months prior to re-certification month • Benefit Reports can be accessed by Head of Household SSN, by Contract # or by Project #

TASS Announcements / News • Annual SSA Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) • Update TASS reports to reflect COLA increase • Jan 2004 were updated 12/09/2003 • Feb 2004 will be updated 12/15/2003 • Mar 2004 were updated 12/03/2003 • Create future reports with COLA increase • - Beginning with April 2004 • Printing TASS Reports • HTML Scissors is not required if using IE 5.5 or above

TASS: Recent Enhancements • Enhanced search capability • provides information for ALL members in the household; • not just members receiving benefits • Error Report • provides information on tenants whose identity could not be verified by SSA • Enhanced Printing - Benefit Reports in Portable Document Format (PDF) • ease of printing • industry standard • faster downloads

TASS: Recent Enhancements cont’d. • Dual Entitlement • displays tenant records with multiple entitlement • ie., multiple Claim Account Numbers (CAN) • Benefit History Report • added Medicare Buy-in Codes • Income Discrepancy Report • added Start and End Dates for SS/SSI Benefits • Enhanced Web Resources • On-line screen-based help available at the click of a button • Updated TASS User Guide • Adobe Acrobat download link

TASS: Proposed Enhancements And News • Identification of other sources of income which impact rent calculation, e.g. child support (SSA Working on This) • Capability to download Error Reports (November 2004) • Use of New Hires Earned Income and Unemployment Data (Office of Policy Development and Research Subsidy Study) • Office of Child Support Enforcement (HHS) • Request Authorizations and Income Verifications (199 letters to Owner/Agents)
