Surrey has 4 early years approved childminding networks covering all 11 boroughs in Surrey. One full time and four part time co-ordinators. There are 140 network childminders in Surrey out of a total of 1,950 registered childminders. The networks are currently full and have a waiting list.
Our training programme which consists of a series of - conferences - seminars - workshops help childminders maintain and improve their professional competence.

Childminding training analysis Childminders were consulted about their requirements for workshop training in the coming two years (2006- 2008). The most frequently requested training course for childminders was Birth to Three (29%). 14% of childminders responding indicated that they would like special needs training, including Makaton and Speech and language, food hygiene and behaviour workshops. Training to help them run a successful childminding business and ‘inspection preparation’ workshops and IT training.
