Healthy Neighborhoods-Healthy City • Long Term Control Plan • 20-year plan to reduce raw sewage overflows • $1.7 billion Consent Decree projects (2004 $’s) • $1.8 billion non-CD projects (2004 $’s) • Largest investment in clean water infrastructure in Indianapolis’s history • Ensures compliance with CD and Clean Water Act • Indianapolis Infrastructure • 180 miles interceptor pipe network • 134 overflow points to address in LTCP • Past rate increases: 1984, 2001, 2006-2008

  3. Reducing raw sewage overflows Historically: Approximately 6 billion gallons flowed into streams By 2007: 1.06 billion gallons captured By 2012: In excess of an additional 1.4 billion gallons will be captured Benefits of the LTCP

  4. The LTCP will reduce: Raw sewage overflow into our streams Odor of sewage/trash E-coli bacteria levels During wet weather, the LTCP will improve: Oxygen levels for fish Water quality for aquatic life Additional Benefits of the LTCP
