  2. Start with some thinking! • You need a very small piece of paper (big enough for three words) • Clear your mind of all conscious thought. • Now write on the slip of paper the first three things that come to mind when you think of “ART” – pass forward

  5. The art of Khőőmei • Highly Culturally Relevant • Sounds of nature – reflect animism • Semi-unique, only survives in pockets like Tuva • Universal qualities • We can’t understand the words (when there are words) but we can infer meaning • Take a listen; what is the mood?

  6. Khőőmei style • Not only a generic term for overtone singing, Khőőmei is also a style of the art • Check a clip • Instrument is a traditional TuvanIgil • And another clip –doesn’t work
